Providing youth impacted by foster care with a means to share their educational experiences and engage in leadership initiatives around school stability, continuity and success is a important goal of VT-FUTRES. The project has partnered with students from the STEPS program for Vermont foster youth at the College of St. Joseph’s in Rutland, VT to develop the Youth Engagement Survey (YES), a tool designed to explore the educational stories and opinions of Vermont youth who have been in state custody. Participants and staff of the Vermont Youth Development Program have contributed their voice through the survey, comments, and interviews.
